Review 2/15 - 11 January 2011

A New Year!

I had my second review of 15 today, this time with my plastic surgeon in Exeter rather than my dermatologist. All was well, no unusual bumps or lumps detected and it was good to see him with me in slightly better shape than when we last met. We had a useful conversation about my previous oncologist appointment and he seemed interested in my idea of a physical model which can be used to teach patients what to look for when self-examining. As a 'belt and braces' measure, he recommended an ultra-sound of my sides in late June which is coming up on the anniversary of my diagnosis. He explained that the chances of reoccurrence within the lymph nodes in my sides is pretty low though- something in the region of 3-4%.

I seem to be pretty OK at the moment. I am a little short on sleep though which I put down to a combination of Christmas holiday sleep-shift and mild nervousness about today. I was warned that Christmas might be a difficult time emotionally, but I had an extended break beforehand and it was really nice just to be at home with my family. We launched a fire-balloon on New Year's Eve too with our wishes written on it for health and happiness in 2011. It was a really beautiful sight as our balloon joined hundreds of others in the night sky.

Like hundreds of others I am thinking of getting back into the gym now that everything has calmed down - I can re-start that programme I promised myself.

Onward. 2 down, 13 to go.
